Hands-On Orthopaedic Education: Sydney Cadaver Course Highlights

Continuing medical education remains one of the most effective ways to translate innovation into clinical practice.

AKVA Surgical recently partnered with BoneSupport to host an advanced cadaver course at the Macquarie University Anatomy Department in Sydney. The program focused on practical applications of CERAMENT® in managing bone voids, alongside educational sessions covering Tibial Transverse Transport (TTT) and circular frame techniques. More than 30 orthopaedic surgeons participated in the course.

A highlight of the event was the participation of internationally recognised orthopaedic surgeon Professor Nando Ferreira, whose expertise provided valuable clinical perspectives and practical guidance throughout the sessions.

Cadaver-based education offers a unique opportunity for surgeons to gain confidence in advanced surgical techniques within a controlled learning environment. By combining expert-led instruction with hands-on practice, participants were able to explore new approaches and refine their surgical skills.
