TL-HEX Summit & ILLRS Congress
Earlier this month AKVA Surgical flew to Miami Beach, Florida to attend the TL-Hex Summit hosted by Orthofix, followed by the ILLRS conference held at the Loews Hotel, Miami Beach. The TL-Hex Summit consisted of a group of international surgeons converging to discuss their experience with the Orthofix TrueLok and TL-Hex circular frames. The faculty included three Australian surgeons. Also present was Orthofix's research and development team, including mechanical engineers, designers, marketing, and sales managers. It was an excellent experience to be part of and hear the surgeons' collective ideas and suggestions improving TrueLok and TL-Hex. Many of them presented clinical data of past years. What stood out was their satisfaction with the product and excellent results they have achieved using Orthofix's circular frames. Candid discussion regarding future improvements and developments were strongly encouraged. In summary, Truelok and TL-Hex are in the very capable hands of highly experienced surgeons around the world, promising a strong future for the collaboration between developers and orthopaedic specialists.
The ILLRS Congress (International Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society) was held in Miami, 4 to 7 November, 2015. Orthofix was one of the main sponsors, each day hosting a TL-Hex limb reconstruction workshop. Attendance was high at these workshops and it was great to see many of the surgeons enthused about the use of TLHex. There were many speakers from all over the world sharing their experience and research they have conducted in the area of limb reconstruction. Besides having a great time at the conference we also got to enjoy a fantastic dinner out with Orthofix staff at the famous Joe's Stone Crab restaurant and enjoyed tasting the seasonal "colossal" sized stone crabs claws, the restaurant is famous for!
